How to Pick a Safe, High-Quality Kitchen Water Heater: 6 Hard Checks

Six Hard Checks

  1. 3C certification — mandatory for electric water heaters.
  2. RCD leakage plug — 30mA, trips within 0.1s.
  3. Dry-burn and overpressure protection — dual thermostat plus relief valve.
  4. Enameled tank — more pressure- and scale-resistant than plain stainless.
  5. Water-electric isolation — preferably with power-off-on-outflow.
  6. Warranty — 3y unit / 5y tank minimum; 8y tank is excellent.

After Delivery

  • Match nameplate wattage to your socket (10A vs 16A).
  • Check accessories: relief valve, gaskets, manual and warranty card.
  • Fill and bleed the tank fully before first power-on.

Bottom Line

Safety features are the floor, tank craft decides lifespan, and warranty decides long-term cost.
