Kitchen Water Heater Not Heating? 6-Cause Self-Check

Two Safety Checks First

Verify the socket has power and the leakage-protection plug has not tripped (press reset).

Six Causes

  1. Thermostat dial set too low.
  2. Overheat protection tripped — power off 15 min, then reset.
  3. Heating element coated with limescale — slow heating, needs descaling.
  4. Burned-out element — light on, no heat; replace.
  5. Failed thermostat — no power at all; replace with same model.
  6. Magnesium rod depleted, tank leaking — stop using and call service.

Descaling

In hard-water areas, descale with citric acid every 12 months.
